PARK UPDATE_26/FEB/2017_GUBALOWKA,POL__The best park views

Million dollar view and million dollar mute

Week after week we have been postponing to come to Gubalowka for whatever reasons. But last weekend we finally managed to get there. Our whole crew headed up north to Zuberec where part of us decided to stay at local big air contest Zuberska Forsta and the other part headed even further north, to Zakopane, Poland. Which I think was a better decision, but judge it after reading these lines.

If you come to Gubalowka to ski, you are at the wrong place. You will not find here any slopes or off-piste terrain, just rails and jumps. Which I love, but JR was upon arrival like: "Wait, there is only park? Shit, what am I going to do here?" Well he took the advantage of a spectacular view of High Tatras, shining sun and grabbed a chair and chilled for the rest of the day :). But now back to the park report of Goobaya - Snowpark Gubalowka

Boys chillin in the park

Park can be divided into several lines. The "pro line" is on the skiers left and consist basically of 2 massive kickers. First one around 10+ meters which is pretty nice for mid-air-spins and second one the "money booter" with table of ca 14+ which sends you high and far away so you can admire the whole Zakopane from the birds perspective.

The big kickers with corner on the right side below hut

Moving to the right side of the park (to a "medium" and "beginner line") you can hit a little corner jump below the Freestyle Academy hut so you can get a nice picture with some mad freeski grab with beautiful scenery behind it like I did. After landing a corner you have three options. Beginner line on the left, jib line in the middle and medium line on the right side. The beginner line consist of two jibs (box and a T-box) and two mini size jumps with table sizes of approximately 2 meters.

Beginner line jibs

The middle section is only a jib section and is made of 3 rail platforms with 2 rails each platform. Starting from the top you have a up-flat rail on the left and a flat tube which is great for spinning off of it on the right.

Overview of the jib section

1st. platform of the jib section

Coming to a second jib platform you will find here a street down tube and a down rail with a "transfer rail" option to get to it. Not sure how it is called but I'm sure you will get if from the picture. And the last platform has a double kink down-flat-down rail and a short straight rail also good for spins off of it.

2nd. jib platform

And last but not least, at the skiers very very right side, by the woods, there is a medium line that includes a down T-box and a 2 kickers with size of ca. 4 and 6 m. This line was the most fun for us because you can jib and jump in one run and we spent most of the time here. And it was good for rehearsing some old switch tricks.

Don't come here if you want to ski. There are no slopes here, just jumps and rails. That means there are no gapers, just thousands of people who took the funicular to get to the top to take a selfie. (don't worry they don't have ski boots so they won't be in your way :D)
The only people you meet on the snow are park rats :). To sum it all up in Gubalowka you have great park, great views and great people who make up a great atmosphere, that you won't want to go home.
