PARK/POW UPDATE_16/JAN/2016_Jasna,SVK_First powder and few jibs!

First freshies of the season at Chopok-Juh

POW:
Winter is finally here with low temperatures and new snow showers. Jasna received about 20 cm of fresh snow which is not deep-deep powder but definitely worth going to ski it.
Even though the visibility at the top was "zero" the snow was perfect. You could find the best freshies at the south part of Chopok in Derese along Dereska slope. Of course you could cut down anywhere else but you had to watch for rocks and pine beacause the snow coverage wasn't that deep.
First powder of the 2016 was pretty good and i think everybody who was up there can agree with me. Weather tomorrow is supposed to be sunshine so head up the mountain!

PARK:
Snowpark is located like in previous seasons in Otupne under Grand Jet cable car. Well it's only at the bottom section near the snowpark shapers hut.
Park composes of 3 features. Down T-Box at the top and below it you can find flat-down tanker pipe on the left and flat wide-box on the right. Basically all these obstacles are close to each other so it's also a good idea just to hike along them. Snow on the landings and along the rails was quite soft because it was snowing so even if you mess up the crash shouldn't be so painful :)

POW:
Zima je tu s nízkymi teplotami a prvými snehovými zrážkami. Jasná dostala okolo 20 cm čerstvého snehu a aj keď to nie je úplne hlboký pow-pow určite si to treba ísť zajazdiť.
Napriek nulovej viditeľnosti na vrchu sneh bol super. Najlepší prach si mohol nájsť na juhu v oblasti Derešov, okolo zjazdovky Derešská. Samozrejme mohol si to spustiť dole hocikde ale musel si si dávať pozor na skaly a kosodrevinu kedže snehová pokrývka nebola až taká hlboká.
Prvý prašan v 2016 bol celkom solídny s čím súhlasí asi každý kto tam dnes hore bol. Počasie má byť zajtra slnečné tak sa isto vyber na hory.

PARK:
Park sa nachádza ako minulé sezóny na Otupnom pod kabínkou Grand Jet. Celý park je vlastne ale len v spodnej časti zjazdovky vedľa shapers domčeku.

Park pozostáva z 3 prekážok. Down T-Box na vrchu a pod ním na ľavej strane flat-down tanker pipe a flat wide-box na pravej. Prekážky sú blízko vedľa seba takže sa oplatí si ich aj pošlapať.

Sneh na dopadoch a okolo railov bol mäkký lebo snežilo, takže aj keď si padol nebolo to bolestivé :). V parku sme väčšinou jazdili sami, kde tu sa tam mihol nejaký skier alebo boarder. Ku koncu dňa keď prestalo snežiť tak sa oblaky začali trhať čo može znamena,  že zajtra to bude sunny!

PARK UPDATE_14/JAN/2016_Karolinka,CZE_Rail session!

 "Winter" has finally arrived. Well not really, but few centimeters of new snow fell over last days in Central Europe. Not too much to hit urban rails or to build kickers in parks but enough to jib some rails.
Ski field in Karolinka in Czech Republic close to Slovak boarder is known for its great snowpark so we decided to check it out. Despite poor snow conditions since the beginning of this winter, park crew did a really great job in building and maintaining the park features.
You can find 5 rails/boxes which are divided into two sections (3 in the middle and 2 at the bottom of the slope). Upper section composes of a step-down made of 2 mailboxes followed by flat-down single bar rail and finished with street down box. Then you have to ski for like 100m till you get to the bottom park where you can find street down rail and the whole park is finished with flat T-box with nice long landing.
Fresh snowfall made all the landings and snow around features soft but the snow layer is not that thick so be careful because underneath is plain hard ice.
Park is daily shaped and groomed so you will always find it in perfect conditions. Props to the whole park crew with Josef Chose! Karolinka it's definately worth visiting!

Konečne k nám prišla zima, teda aspoň to tak vyzerá keď človek prejde Makovom na Českú stranu. Zasnežená krajina tu vyzerá ako z rozprávky. Aj keď napadlo iba pár čísiel, čo nie je dosť ani na streetové rails ani na stavanie kickrov v parkoch, rozhodli sme sa že ideme pozrieť aspoň jib prekážky do Karolínky ktorá je známa svojim snowparkom.
Napriek zlým snehovým podmienkam od začiatku zimy, park crew v Karolínke urobila ozaj dobrú prácu vo vystávbe a udržiavaní parku.

V parku môžeš nájsť celkovo 5 prekážok ktoré su rozdelené do 2 častí (3 v strednej a 2 v spodnej časti zjazdovky). K vrchnej časti parku sa dá dostať buď úplne zhora z vleku po zjazdení strmej zľadovateľej zjazdovky, alebo keď sa ti nechce (alebo nemáš ostré hrany:P) možes sa z T-baru vypnúť už pri medzistanici odkiaľ ľachko pretraverzuješ  až k prvej prekážke v parku (teda aspoň skiers, snowboardisti sa musia asi vyzuť :D)

Vrchná časť parku:
Vrchná časť parku pozostáva z step-down ktorý je vyhotovený z 2 mailboxes. Za ním nasleduje flat-down single bar rail a horná sekcia parku je zakončená so street down box. Mailbox bol zo začiatku naozaj šmykľavý ale po čase si naň človek zvykol. Moja najobľúbenejšia prekážka z celého dňa bola ale jednoznačne flat-down single bar rail kde sa dali krásne robiť transfers alebo disasters až na koniec down časti.

Spodná časť parku:
Po prejdeni vrchnej časti parku musí človek zlyžovať asi tak 100m kým sa dostane do tej spodnej.
Tu je osadený street down rail po ktorom nasleduje na záver flat T-box s naozaj príjemným dlhým dopadom kde sme skúšali switch 270 ins alebo 450 outs.

Čerstvý sneh dodal terénu okolo prekážok a na dopadoch kúsok jemnosti, ale kedže ho nie je veľa, treba si dávať pozor lebo pod ním je len tvrdý ľad.
Park je denno-denne shapovaný a ratrakovaný takže ho vždy nájdeš v skvelej forme. Veľký palec hore patrí teda ozaj celej park crew okolo Josefa Choseho! Karolínku sa ozaj oplatí navštiviť!

PARK UPDATE_2/DEC/2015_Donovaly,SVK_First park opened!

Winter season in Slovakia starts. Some resorts are already open, some will be opened in following December days. But how does it look with snowparks? Can you already hit some rails or jumps on snow? Yes you can! There's one place in the whole country that has its terrain park already built. And that place is Donovaly, well Riders Park Donovaly.

Ski resort Park Snow Donovaly opened its gates last November weekend and despite other resorts already with some rails set up on the side of the slope.

Runs open

Even with not much of natural snow and recent rain, resorts still runs 2 lifts and 4 snowpark features. Snowpark consists of 3 rails and 1 mailbox which are devided into two sections.

Bottom section consists of, from top, street rail (single bar), down rail (flat bar) and mailbox (tanker) which is slightly kinked so it looks like down-flat mailbox.

Even though it's only man-made snow and the park is limited it is in very good shape and you can even hike it and have fun on the bottom section. But if you want to hit 4 features on the way down, then buy a ticket. Day pass costs ca. 10 EUR and you will also support the shapers that do really good job. Every day the park is perfectly shaped which I witnessed at the end of the day. Julo and Janci just got out of their shapers-house and with rakes prepared the park for the next day.

Pochovany zaživa! /// Buried alive!

Don't ride off-piste alone! Wait for each other and wear and carry necessary avalanche equipment with you! Otherwise you may not be as lucky as JR!

Day before yesterday, on 4/4/2015 me and my friends were enjoying the fresh powder, in for us well known terrain around Vratna Ski Resort in Slovakia. Due to low visibility and disorientation from too much excitement i didn't quite pay attention to my location and was only enjoying riding. In front of me i spotted a small bump and decided to approach it with a radius and jump off it. But in about 2 meters in front of this bump i was surprised by an emptiness. Emptiness of ground. A Rock cliff, which i thought i already passed. During my air time i saw a broken-off piece of big rock into which i was flying. In the air i tried to moved the rock "away with my eyes"', which, i by miracle managed and landed into the pile of snow on the side of it. That saved my bones, but i landed with my head so deep in the snow that i couldn't dig myself out. My friend who was following my line, due to his lower speed, landed in the "landing" behind the cliff but was still knocked off of that big impact for a while. I don't know how long i was buried in the snow, but i was told they were digging me out for about 5 minutes. My time was going in another dimension.
I just wanted to thank everybody who carries to mountains those few more kilograms of avalanche equipment with him. You are the one who cares about the life of your friends, or about a life of random trespasser. I also want to thank to my destiny, that i landed where i did. It was the best place in diameter of 2 meters where i was dug out. And the biggest thank you goes to my friends who literally saved my life.
For the rest of you. Go to the mountains ready for the worst. Think about your line and get to know your terrain, where are you located. Ride carefully. Never ride alone and wait for each other. But don't wait for each other in the avalanche zone. But wait for each other, don't be egoists.
Ride together, because "Happiness is only real when shared".
I underestimated it and could have payed the highest price for it.

Predvčerom 4.4. sme si s kamošmi po prašanovej nádielke užívali pojazdy v celkom známom teréne v okolí Vrátnej. No vďaka nízkej oblačnosti a značnej dezorientácii z eufórie som si neuvedomoval svoju presnú polohu a len si užíval púdrovanie. Predo mnou bol malý bubon, tak som nabral pirel a kvalitne sa odrazil. Približne 2m od bubnu ma čakalo nemilé prekvapenie v podobe prázdnoty. Skalné bralo, o ktorom som si myslel, že už som dávno obišiel. Počas letu sa mi postupne ukazoval dopad v protisvahu a odlomený skalný blok na ktorý som smeroval. Očami som skalu tlačil nabok a nejakým zázrakom sa mi podarilo dopadnúť rovno vedľa nej do prašanového záveja. To mi zachránilo kosti, no zarazil som sa hlavou tak hlboko, že nebolo možné vyhrabať sa von. Jeden z kolegov sledoval moju stopu a vďaka tomu, že mal nižšiu rýchlosť spadol do dopadu, kde bol aj tak po takom páde cez minútu mimo. Neviem koľko som bol pod snehom, no vraj ma vykopávali cez 5 minút. Čas mi plynul iným tempom.
Hlavne by som chcel poďakovať každému, kto chodí na hory s tými pár kilami výbavy naviac. Si človek, ktorému nie je ľahostajný život kamaráta, ale aj neznámeho horala. Ďakujem osudu za to, že som dopadol presne tam kam som dopadol. Bolo to to najvhodnejšie miesto v rádiuse 2m od miesta kde ma vykopali. A obrovská vďaka patrí mojím kamarátom doslova za záchranu života.
Pre ostatných. Choďte do hôr pripravený na najhoršie. Premyslite si svoju líniu a spoznajte terén, v ktorom sa pohybujete. Jazdite opatrne. Nejazdite nikdy samy a čakajte sa. Ak idete žľab, čakajte sa mimo laviniska, pod skalami. Ale čakajte sa a nebuďte egoisti.
"Happiness is only real when shared" Ja som to podcenil a mohol som kruto na to dopaltiť.

Nie len na horách, na upravených snowparkoch alebo zjazdovkách, ale aj v uliciach alebo na atletickom štadione. Jediné čo potrebuješ je trochu snehu, bungee lano a chuť si zajazdiť !

Bôyz (Hôrky Boyz)

Winter is over. Summer begins. And we still want to shred. All year long. That's why we built our rail-garden in Hôrky near Žilina. Check this short video of how does a normal day in HS Railpark look like. Riding with local guys and also with our friends from Žilina and its surroundings. And btw, can you do math? What is 4+4+3+3 ? Yes it's 14,  14 meters. That's how long you can jib when you combine our rails wisely. And it is the longest rail in Slovakia. Want to hit it? Zima skončila. Leto začína. A my chceme stále jazdiť. Celý rok. Preto sme postavili našu rail-záhradku vo Hôrkach pri Žiline. Pozri si toto krátke video ako vyzerá normálny deň v HS Railpark-u. Jazdíme s domácimi ale aj s priateľmi zo Žiliny a jej okolia. A mimochodom, viete počítať? Koľko je 4+4+3+3 ? Áno je to 14. 14 metrov. Tak dlho môžete jibovať ak rozumne pokombinujete naše zábradlia. A je to najdlhší rail na Slovensku. Chceš ho dať? Tak na čo ešte čakáš? Prídi a zajazdi si s nami, u nás je vždy otvorené:)

Comix Jib Jam vol. 6

This year's Comix on 25/3/2014 took place as usually at the University of Žilina dormitory blocks Hliny. Set-up was built from a street rail and run-in was in shape of a pyramid so you just chose your side and went for it.
List of riders wasn't too long but it didn't affect quality and style of the tricks. Backsides, frontsides, switch-ups, pretzels spins and twists, in and outs. It was worth watching. So big up for all the skiers and snowboarders who came and put up a good show for the whole audience.
